Lenovo Tablet - Cracked Screen

Hello all,
I managed to drop my tablet down the stairs last night and the screen now has a three way crack in it, but only shows as a small mark, when I'm using it.
The touchscreen use hasn't been affected, so was thinking of buying a tempered glass protector, to put on it, or buying a replacement screen and fitting it myself (with YouTube's help), but before replacing it, would like to know whether a protector would do a good enough job, for now, or am I better off just replacing it?
