Linux For Mobile Phones - Users' Views, Please?

Linux as an Operating System for servers and desktops is quite successful. But, I would like to hear from TABs who have (had) this OS for their mobile phones.

Linux for mobile phones? Anything is better than Android with all-embracing Google 'pulling the strings', surely! Any GNUs is good GNUs ...

Read on The Register that someone's trying to get an open source mobile OS together. Sounds a mammoth job.

OG: This is indeed the landscape in which I would feel much more relaxed and secure when using my mobile phone.

I was under the impression that the OpenSource OS for mobiles was already available. But even here, developments are looking most promising.
