The Tongan Threat

We should be on our guard and make sure the Tongans don't overrun our country, and dilute our culture with coconuts, canoes and garlands of flowers around our necks.
Would you join in the campaign and fight the threat from the Tongans?

We had Maoris in Malaya, They made up most of the 1st Battalion Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment. We, H Light Battery Royal Artillery were their support battery. Lovely people.

Undoubtedly. A very brave South Sea Islamder named Laba Laba, a member of our S.A.S. bravely fought and was killed in the battle of Mirbat, (circa 1972), fighting the Adoo in Oman.

Yes I remember that. My brother was in the SAS. He was killed on active service in Aden in 1967.

How sad. How proud of him you must be.

Indeed I am, also my other brother, he was a Royal Marines Commando. He was in Malaya at the same time as me. We flew together to Aden for our brother's funeral.

Your family have served our country incredibly well and at great cost.
Having fought for our values, like freedom of speech and democracy, I wonder what you make of these being threatened by political expedience to placate those with the loudest voices.

I'll just say it makes me wonder why we bothered!

My father was also in the Royal artillery an d my mother was in Royal Navy Reserve.
