Good luck to all peaceful Muslims who celebrated Eid at the end of Ramadan.
I hope they all enjoyed themselves.
I am taken aback though, to see Theresa May making a patronising video speech to the Muslims, akin to the Queen addressing the nation at Christmas.
It appears that the government is so craven in the face of Islamic demands for more and more concessions and special treatment, against a backdrop of radicalisation and jihadi violence, that they feel it warrants a further dilution of our customs, ie the personal appearance of our Prime Minister to vicariously bestow the nations blessings on just one section of society.
Will she, I wonder, make similar appearances for our Christian festivals?
To not do so,is hypocracy.
So, my friends, am I just being churlish or do you agree?

No, but Muslims do.
I don't know what people are expecting. Should May have used this occasion to release a youtube video screeching about how much she hates Islam? Or just ignored it? Considering that approximately 5% of the UK population is Muslim - and the PM is as responsible for governing them as she is for the rest of us - it's just a basic acknowledgement, like the PM does with all other significant occasions.
No, but Muslims do

Ah, I see you have lumped ever Muslim together there, Jim.

If I were a Muslim, I would not be allowed to beat my wife with a stick that was thicker than my finger.
So it's not all bad is it?

As
It was this section of your OP that puzzled me...

//Will she, I wonder, make similar appearances for our Christian festivals? //

For someone who frequents Youtube so much, I was surprised you didn't know that messages are given for many major festivals.

Still, now you do.

Yes Mamyalynne I confess to being wrong about the PM.
She does indeed acknowledge other faiths.
You were right to point out my error.
I apologise.
I hope this humble pie is low calorie because of my diet.
Humble pie crumbs on my shirt now.
I would rather have Naomi's custard pie. Delivered at speed and finger licking good.
No need at all for an apology, we all make errors, enjoy the custard.

As a Christian I do not beat my wife.
She would KILL me if I tried.

What Theresa May should have done, was to have delivered a message to all Muslims about the violence and anti social behaviour coming from that sector of our society. She should have said that in a spirit of peace we welcome them, but that the rest of us have run out of patience and we look for a fundamental change, like reporting suspected jihadis, and imams who promote hatred, as was the case in Didsbury mosque not long before the Manchester bomb.
Jim, //No, but Muslims do. //

Muslims do what?
From previous comments it's very clear that not many on here actually know, or are friends, with any Muslims. There was a wonderful celebration of Eid yesterday in a Dundee park. Well over a thousand attended and they were not all Muslims. It was open to all faiths and a great day was had by all.
Not sure what that^ has to do with this. Celebrations were held in a lot of places.
