.....didn't show up last night. Actually, I wasn't watching through the night so I suppose he could have appeared then. I was just checking the same times as previous nights. No show. He's probably had enough of town life!

The more this goes on, the more baffled I become. I posted about an absent barn owl but somehow, someone has taken offence by trying to link it to something else.

I hope he is ok and comes back.
Me too. I don't know what's going on but I can't see a problem with the OP.
10CS sorry this thread means nothing to those just to see it like me with all the answers removed. Not fair on you but would be better in this case if the whole thing went and you re-started it.
It would have worked well added to Tuesday's thread.

Clarion - I think they were referring to Eccles demise which occurred a few days ago.

The owl in English folk law was looked previously on as the harbinger of death
"It was the owl that shriek'd, the fatal bellman,
Which gives the stern'st good night."
Macbeth - I did it for O level

it was only with the rise of classicism in C19 that it was looked on a symbol of wisdom ( as Athena's mate etc).

altho on this thread I think ther has been removal over-kill - am I allowed to say that ?
It should all have gone, it's now a farce. I can only guess at who said what but can't have had anything to do with owls.
I understood what the thread meant (despite all the removed answers) and I wanted to say that I hope the owl comes back, so I did ...
has ollie owl turned up to night ?
It will be That Darn Owl if it doesn't appear...
Barney the absentee barn owl

does anyone remember Zoolie - the lazy lazoon
from Fireball XL5
it just yowled... "Heeelllloooo" when woken by its Fransh owner - wake up you lezzy lazoon........
hwy - below its usual perch
Clarion could nail a notice ....

Not tonite ! Barney is off to Killarney .....
I think he may have moved up here Clarion. There has been an Owl happily hooting away for half an hour or so now. We have a National Trust farm not 3/4 of a mile away that has both Barn Owls and Tawney Owls nesting with a barn that has Pipistrelle and Horse shoe bats that put on an amazing show at dusk. The Tawney owl sits not 20 feet away from our kitchen window watching the ground for the little varmints.
If he was in an urban environment he may have been desperate for food. He may have found some and now returned to his rural environment. Bless him.
