I have 2 digital hearing aids and need help with how to use them. I do not understand how the loop works, for example and when you use it. Similarly, i dont know to use it if you are in a noisy environemt that picks up everthing eg. Loud noises picking up everything like knives and forks and all the cluncking and scraping. I know I could master the use of these hearing aids, if only I had the right istructions and explainations. So I am hoping their are some hearing aid veterans out there who could assist me. Apologies if I have posted in an incorrect section. Anyway TIA.

Right from my time as a volunteer at AOHL, the loop system should be on wherever advertised and when you switch your aid to this position you get clear hearing via the aid.

chrissie.....I don't have a hearing aid and i hope that someone who has practical experience will come along.
I would suggest that as they have a Loop system, they are private and expensive ones, unless thew NHS provides digital H.As with Loop systems.
Now a hearing aid will just amplify sound both wanted and unwanted so in noisy surroundings, it may well be better to turn them off.
However if the premises provide a Loop setup. the turning to "T" notch will go into the Loop system and improve your reception by cutting out the ambient sound.
Some one with practical knowledge will come along chrissie.

Thank you SHARONA. I dont know how to get in to Loop and what beeps should I look for. Sometimes I get 3 beeps and some times I get 2 beeps and then it feels like Ive switched it off. I am truly at a loss.
Chrissie, I suggest that you contact the hearing aid provider and ask for another explanation of how they work.

Thanks Squad. These are "state of the Art" NHS digital over the ear hearing aids. This just goes to show what little I know - whats the "T' position? (Not from the Karma Sutra I presume!). I really need help !
Chrissie, did they not explain it all to you when they were fitted?
LOL.....I would rather answer the Karma Sutra one...;-)

On the H.A there should be next to volume control a small click which points to about 2 positions, one of which has a "T" next to it and that is for the Loop setup, if available.
Contact the audiologists who gave you the hearing aids and ask for an appointment to be shown how to use them.
If your hearing aids are from Specsavers and are Siemens you should have been given a full set of instructions and a proper demonstration when they gave you them, what make did they give you? You really should go back to see them Christie pronto or you will put them in a drawer and forget them, amazing the number of people who do that, good luck rosy

Sorry Christie
Sqad....NHS digital aids have moved on. They do use telecoil "loop" systems, Many do not have volume controls (they are pre-set for you at the optimum gain-level by your audiologist) and the telecoil "loop" position is usually switched on/off by pressing one button and listening for the "beeps".
I am sure I did NOT write that Chrissie
gingjbee....LOL...thanks, I thought that may well be the case. I will butt out of this thread now.
I thought modern digital hearing aids were designed to cut down on interference from background noise. My son's certainly do. Also, if the hearing aids are new and properly adjusted, do you need the loop? If you are having real problems I agree with earlier posts, go back to where you got them and get a hands on explanation.
Hi - just thought I'd point out that the hearing loop link isn't working. Please try this instead: https://hearglow.com/blogs/hearing-guide/hearing-loop
