Dinner last night, as well as the meal which was iffy, we had one and a half pints of beer. They charged 18 euros for that. Extortionate or what?

We had the seafood assiette starters. There were 5 large prawns that were ok. Loads of shrimps that had no meat on them, whelks were very tough and a clam!
Main course was I had mussels and chips, that were ok. OH had rump steak.

Georgiesmum, about £16.
It seems a bit pricey but I reckon on paying about 8 euros for a 'pint' (half litre) of decent beer in Paris (and I only frequent the back street bar that the locals use, not the tourist places), so that would be 12 euros for a pint and a half. A 50% supplement for restaurant (rather than bar) prices probably isn't so unusual.

While such prices would be expensive for draught beers in the UK, many bars now charge around £4.50 for a 330ml ('half pint') can or bottle of decent beer, so that would equate to about €15.50 for a pint and a half.
Seems to be about right. OH and I had a meal downtown Miami and the bill was $88 about £65 for two. And we had nowt special.
The thing to remember about drinking in Paris is that as soon as you sit down the price doubles. I'm going back about 20 years now, but if I stood at the bar I would pay 11FF for a half (roughly £1.10) but if I sat it would be 22FF.
We spent 35 euros on two plates of prawns in Crete. 6 prawns each.
Shrimps don't have any meat on them as they are tiny little bleeders
