3 nights of programmes which started last night on Ch5. New excavations and MRI scans on some of the ash covered bodies have revealed some astonishing results.

Heads up if anyone is interested in this kind of thing :o)

I watched with great excitement at first then it just went on and on and on and on and on. To my horror they gave the wrong date for the eruption and the wrong source for Roman information on it. Should have been called. "Women in tight pants bend for the camera".
At least one scene where they were given exclusive entry was open two yrs ago, I stood in the same spot looking at the same frescos.
I was almost going to watch but didn't. When are other 2 programs on?

I know the dates are integral to when the eruption began but I was more interested in what the CT scan results were.

I've never been to Pompeii but would love to go. I saw another programme about the lead up to the eruption several years ago. That was brilliant.

The last one is tonight, Pasta. You should be able to get them on catch up.
tigger, if you ever get there, make sure you see Herculaneum as well.

Will do, Jno :o)
I never miss the chance to see Bettany Hughes's priceless artefacts.
Herculaneum was buried much deeper, so they've excavated two-storey buildings. You can look down on the whole site

It's pretty amazing, Jno.
I saw one scene - a scene of panic, and then I changed channel, because the scene was all wrong. Nobody in that eruption could have seen anything whatsoever, because of the rain of "lapilli" - grit, stones and gravel. People were known to have tied cushions onto their heads because the rain of stones was so heavy.
Channel 5 + history = Channel 5
