Am very stuck on two clues:
7a......Painful sound developed out loud. (5) ?R?A?
I assume this is groan, but don't understand the indications.

8a.....Green shrub cultivated by American plant. (9) ?A?O?R???
Am completely stumped by this.

Just not seeing either of them. :(

8a...... I wondered about a shrub anagram. Never heard of sagebrush, and it wasn't listed in Chambers!
