Would you call pest control in if only one sighting of small brown mouse was seen indoors? Never seen mice here before in 30 yrs...so is it a case of it's come in from garden and just may die from lack of food as they can't get at any as far as we know? Seems a silly question but only saw it last night (poor thing) so may never see it again, well I'm hoping anyway....

Get a couple of old-fashioned mousetraps, and bait them with fudge. No, not cheese, fudge. They love fudge. See how many you catch.
Probably just a wee field mouse wandering off course. Would just leave the doors open for a wee while to let it escape.
Leave doors open? Not at this time of year - they come in from the fields in droves, many wearing sombreros and carrying a suitcase in each paw!
Use a humane mouse trap and set it free :-)
We had mice, our cat seen them off.
I'm with anthro.
No we have one that comes up through a hole in the floorboards, we're certainly not infested because we have killer cats but I wouldn't pay it too much heed tbh, especially if you're in the country, they just pop up occasionally x
rats as well....

get a good, young cat and don't overfeed it.

Thanks all....well no I wouldn't kill it, not its fault it wandered in.... Just hope he doesn't appear again tonight....then it will make me wonder if we need pest control. I think it would get the humane traps then and hopefully set it free. OH was all for paying for pest control but only one siting I thought maybe wait.

As for cat...love them but can't now keep one with our health probs....and of course if they cark it before us couldn't face that either. Ok I'm a wuss lol.... I'll let you know if Mickey surfaces.... Hope not.
My flipping cat keeps bringing live mice into the house and then gets all huffy when we take them off him.
I though Campbell cat was getting too old to hunt until the other week she caught me unawares and deposited a live mouse in the centre of the living room. Luckily it was a bit subdued so easily put into a cake tin and returned back outside whilst Campbell sulked indoors.
I first read that as "put into a cake" - LOL
Sprinkle ground black pepper where you saw it running, it will go bother someone else.
I got a humane mouse trap for about £3 on amazon, or was it wlkinsons? Either way, worked perfectly! I put a little bit of mars bar in the bottom, left it out over night, and the next morning, me and the little guy took a short drive to some nearby fields where I released him. He was lovely.
maybe only one mouse now but if it is pregnant and has come indoors to have its litter - wont be long before you hear the pitter patter of many tiny feet.

Yes Quoi that's what I thought....but so far so good at the mo, not seen it again. Anthro....that's what I would do get a humane trap but can't see how they work really..well not looked actually and hopefully won't have to. Now, after OH's description of the fleeting sight of it I'm beginning to wonder if it was a mouse! He said a longish nose, a very tiny mouse.... I said it sounds like a shrew then.... So ATM just hope it's gone back to his home whatever it is.
