Well, that was a very freaky but impressive lightning display last night. Never seen lightning like that before over London / South East.

Did you see it where you are?

Yeah, one of the best Thin Lizzy albums but John Sykes’ guitar solos can be a bit too twiddly for me.
same here, tiggs, in north London. It seemed to be to the south most of the time, nothing overhead except rain.
I just saw a single flash of lightning here in Suffolk last night (and it was from so far away that there wasn't even any thunder to follow it).

However Stansted Airport (which is only 40 miles from here as the planes fly) had a lightning strike last night that hit a fuel depot. It's causing total chaos there.

A friend of a friend was due to arrive there this morning, with a really tight connection time to get a train into London. However here flight was diverted to Birmingham, so she's now got to get to London by train but there are rail replacement buses between Birmingham International and Coventry, so it will take here ages to get there. Once she's got there, she's then got to work out how to catch up with the coach tour that she should have joined hours earlier!
Small stormlet this morning but more expected like ummmm I love storms and have brilliant views from kitchen and balcony. Head still aching though it was better earlier.
Very impressive here in staffs for about 90 minutes around 3am. Lots of vivid lightning and rumbles of thunder, thought it was never going to stop - and the OH slept through it!
Flew in from Fue to Gatwick arriving after midnight.
Must say the we had an interesting half hour period over the bay of Biscay. It had me doing something I had never done in my life ... I felt under my seat to sea where the life jacket was !

Can imagine how scary it must've been, Alavahalf!

It started around 10ish in South London and woke Little Tigs up as his window was on the latch. The lightning went on for a few hours but as the thundering wasn't too bad I fell asleep.
SW London - absolutely mega storm. It was supposed to hit at 9 pm when we were sitting out at a music festival but stayed away until just afterwards. I think it might have closed the airport for a while. The lightning was amazing. I passed a charity cycle ride on the way home - they must have been like drowned rats
Nothing in West Wales!
Out in the Cardigan Bay Gill. Abersoch is getting some as well.
Yes we had a colossal storm in the middle of the night, I got up to go out and enjoy it. Had huge thunderstorms too in Georgia when I was there, maybe it's following me. It's off again now :) x
Nothing here in south Norfolk yet mayhem at Stansted 70 miles away.
I saw some spectacular blue and purple bolts of lightening, through closed curtains.
We had constant heavy thunder, lightning and rain about midnight in Bucks. Probably only an hour or so, but it was impressive while it lasted.
OH said it was really bad in the night. Two lots of rain, lightning and thunder. He looked out of the front door and could hardly see the house opposite, because of the rain. He also said the house shook twice, but I slept through it all.
I remember having torrential rain in Spain a few years ago, the likes of which I have never seen in this country. A few hours later I was sat at the table and all of a sudden we had a big earthquake.
What on Earth were you eating NoM? :))
Just gone over us, a two hour thunder storm.
