I believe this is what is known as "AB clickbait".

To be clear:

(a) You would only send photos to Facebook that you have already taken, and

(b) Such photos would only be sent if you felt that they were at risk of being shared by someone you once knew, if they had access to them, as a "revenge porn" risk, and

(c) the point is therefore to "take ownership" of such photos, as far as possible, to stop them being shared more widely by the sort of gits who go in for revenge porn.

Now, certainly, it's a bit of a risk to share them at all, but the point is that if they are already out anyway (or likely to be), then here might be one of the few ways you can control the spread of such photos.

but who takes these sorts of pictures anyway? on a mobile? connected to the "cloud"? beggars belief!

then they should not be surprised when they end up on the WWW!
I'm led to believe that some people can find other people's naked human bodies attractive. Who knew?! But in that instance, perhaps it's not totally surprising that they might want to show off on camera from time to time.

I mean, yes, a certain awareness of what can happen if things go wrong between you and whomever you were sharing the photos with is important, and often lacking, but that's a separate question from the "surprise" people seem to show at the thought that people might have such photos at all. It's almost as if literally the entirety of art, sculpture and film history across the world has escaped their notice.

Unless you are doing something illegal then I would take the direction of "Publish and be damned" - easiest way to deal with revenge porn scum and the like. Take the wind out of their sails.

But then I suppose no one would look at my naked body for more than a nano second and certainly not if it was 'at it'.
Tora, You must be a headline writer's idea of heaven.

Your's is just the sort of reaction they're designed to provoke.

Chris, thanks for bringing some rationality into the situation for those who didn't read beyond the 'gone fishing' journalism.
Chris?
Sorry James. ;-)

My golden rule of photos is don't have anything taken you're not happy with everyone seeing, then you have no problem. I have no issues with nudity so if someone's life is so dull they want to stare at my *** they're welcome.
that word was another for 'bum' btw :/
