'barbarians at the gate' is a good book - written like a novel, it gives a good insight to the financial markets, but is not solely focused on the stock market. It's about the take-over of a stock market company, RJR Nabisco, in the US. IT's a classic read for all interested in the financial world - even my wife who's an artist!

Try 'The Stock Market Explained for Young Investors' by Clayton P. Fisher before 'Barbarians...
