Is there any know connection to being stung by a bee and not having arthritus? Perhaps it's just a wishful myth? Any answers much appreciated

Some people deliberately let themselves be stung by bees, unfortunately the only one I can give as an example at the moment is Jack Warner (Dixon of Dock Green) we can't ask him how effective it was as he died many years ago but remember reading an article on this and being horrified at the thought. I have been stung by a bee and I haven't got arthritis, does that count?
This features in a novel set in the Second World War - "Five Boys" by Mick Jackson.
