We are trying to replace our washing line - green plastic steel core 20m - but none of the ones I have seen online or in local shops have any rings/fittings on the ends - they are simply lengths of line! When I last bought one, admittedly quite a long time ago, came with a ring either end to attach to the posts. Does anyone know if / where a line like this is available please? I would be very grateful.

But will the line take the weight if I simply knot the line round a ring? I wouldn't have thought it would stand the weight. Our previous line came with the rings already fitted and were very sturdy and secure.
Most people just knot the ends, surely if it came with rings either end you would have to have your posts at one distance apart and one distance only.
I believe that the idea is that you transfer the end rings from your old line to the new one. They are usually just tied on to the end of the line, they don't have special fasteners.

Thanks everyone. Re the set length, we have a pulley at one end - and the other end will fit on to a new clothes post. I can't transfer any rings because they are completely rusted. Obviously I will have to rethink - what I am looking for doesn't seem to be available. I'll have to find someone strong to ensure the knots are very secure!
I know what you mean, mjulian. I haven't found one with the rings on in yonks. Solved the problem by making a slip knot at one end, putting the line around the tree trunk and threading the line through the slip knot. Tied it off with a couple of knots so it won't slip. Stretched the line across the garden and threaded the other end through a large eye screw sunk into brickwork and down on to a brass dock cleat using a figure of eight action. I can just reach the line so I don't have to untie the line for everyday use, but it would be easy enough to slacken off the line using the cleat.

Choux, Thank you for your suggestion. Our original line was fixed to the house with a pulley and a figure of eight device and the other was round a tree - which has since died. The line got broken by workmen and so we are starting afresh. We've had a post cemented in with a hook and it looks as if I will have to get someone strong to tie off these ends and I can secure the other end via the pulley and figure of eight. I don't anticipate having to keep lowering it - will leave it low for my Mother to be able to reach and buy a clothes prop to raise it up! Bring back the good old days when everything seemed much easier!!! Thanks again.
I am lucky that I have several trees to choose from, mjulian. Hope you can soon get help to affix the line to your new post.
