To make sure they are thoroughly cooked, is it a good idea to partially microwave them first ?.
If so how long for ?.

TIA..

No
No...def not.
No yuck it will give it a nasty taste!
If you are really worried you could partially cook in the oven but really no need for it
Are they fresh burgers?

No need.

Doesn't matter if they are a bit rare. You could even have "burgers tartare".
I was in Newark NJ a while ago and when I ordered a turkey burger, the server said "How would you like it cooked?" I resisted the urge to say that I would like it with copious amounts of Salmonella if that's OK.
When I have been it France, although I wanted to, I never plucked up the courage to try Steak Tatare.
NJ...tatare is fillet steak, not burgers.
I'd eat it, Jack, without hesitation.
I wouldn't eat anything Tatare. I don't fancy the idea of getting a tapeworm
I would doubt the wisdom of eating minced meat tartare.
mmm burgers...
"NJ...tatare is fillet steak, not burgers."

Yes I do know that. I was simply making a comparison. Provided they are made of decent minced beef and not of "mechanically reclaimed material or material steamed from a carcass" there is no need to worry if your burgers are a little on the underdone side.
Sorry...reading my answer, NJ, it sounds a bit patronising.

OG...it's not minced beef tartare is made with. It's fillet steak and you're meant to chop it yourself. It's not put through a grinder.
