Afternoon all green fingers.

I have a lace lady tree about 13 years old and grows well.

However, last year the tree started getting thorny branches and large straight leaves.

We cut these branches off but worried these branches will grow back.

Does anyone knows why this is happening, is it normal, can it be prevented

Thanks for your time

what is lace lady? do you have a latin name?
It's a Robinia pseudo..something but that's about all i know...sorry.
oh Robinia yes they get thorny as they get older
Lol woof ....describes most of us, then :)
Sounds like your Robinia pseudoacia 'lace lady; is trying to revert back to the original wild form.
All you can do is prune out all the thorny material to keep the lace lady cultivar, otherwise it will continue to revert.
