Thanks for the warning - I had that email too.

I did think that it wasn't an update to msn messenger but to windows own messenger which I think is rubbish.

Can you remove it by going to add/remove programmes,
windows components and unchecking messenger?

You should then be able to reinstall msn messenger.
I have just downloaded the new Messenger live on 3 computers and have not lost anything, are you sure your addresses have been deleted? never heard of that happening with MSN
If you are running win 2000 or XP you could just restore to the day before you installed the new version.
I have installed this live messenger an i haven't lost any of my addresses. but if i move the cursor over the icon in the tray at the bottom right hand side of the screen, it says connection error. anyone else get that problem?

when i go to re-install msn messenger once i have removed live messenger it comes up with this message:

"MSN Messenger setup has failed with error code: '1635'. Please go to the MSN mesenger website http://messenger.msn.com to download the lastest version of MSN messenger."

any ideas of what i can do??
Hi all, I also get the connection error message with the new MSN but it connects and works fine.

Itsallgood 89, it sounds like you have deleted the old version before installing the new version, I think the new version requires the old one to update
