Seriously he will be the death of me. He was only released from prison in January. I found out last month that he was driving with no MOT. He promised me he would sort it that day. He didn’t. I drove to see him and nagged and nagged him and he said that it would fail anyway, but his insurance was still valid (erm don’t think so). His sister told him the same yesterday. She’s now had a call from a friend of him saying he’s been arrested for no MOT and is at police station. But surely they don’t arrest and hold you just for that?? I could throttle him!

ok apologies for that and it is good to know because I do panic near my MOT time. I did think but didn't want to chance it - you would still be covered for 10 days after it was up. Good luck Smow

//you would still be covered for 10 days after it was up//

Never come across that ^^ before tbh.
There is not and never has been a period of grace for MoTs. There is an expiry date given and when it's passed it's no longer valid. No period of grace with Road Fund Licence nowadays.
Smo will come back and tell us the real reason for the arrest soon. Nothing to do with MOTs I bet.
The only time you're covered is when you're driving it to and from the MOT. If it fails you'll have the failure cert with the date on it.
ummmm - true and it MUST be a pre-booked Mot.
Yep...which is easily checked.

I rang the police station near where he lives and they said he’d been transferred yesterday to another one in a different county, and so they didn’t know if he was still there. So I rang the other one who were very nice but couldn’t tell me if he was there or not due to data protection(even tho the first one just told me he’d been there first!) so I try his phone again and a woman answers saying she’s his girlfriend. Says he was arrested at a petrol station and apparently his ex is accusing him of harassment again which she swears isn’t true and I have no idea either, but with his track record he doesn’t have much hope of convincing them it’s not true. Soooo gf hasn’t heard since yesterday so I’m guessing he’s still at station..... god this is like Groundhog Day....
