Polishing motorbike

My Dad has a motorbike, a Honda R500 CBF ( i think thats right!) He is polishing it up for a show but the exhaust pipes are the only area that doesn't bright up? they always look tainted/ rusted? these are the original pipes on this bike, can anyone recommend a product that can help this or a modification to the pipes so that they are nice and shiny? thank you.

Prob thats the area where its got mostly hot and maybe its the rain etc has faded it.and the chrome has peeled off
Alot of exhausts wont polish up they go a blue colour , if its rusty get it re chromed or go for a noisy im over here exhaust replacement.
