I'm puzzled as to why AB still bothers with Badges. I noticed today that a poster who posted once and was signed into AB for 2 minutes has been awarded 4 badges ( https://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/members/keerthan/ ) whereas after giving over 30000 answers I have only 3. I'm not interested in collecting badges but this example does show that are not meaningful. I don't think we still issue them. Why not just scrap them altogether?

I think they should be scrapped as well.
And the star rating for answers was better than just having 1 best answer.
The only ones which seem to be issued automatically now are the service badges, one for each year of membership.
Also agree, I never look at mine nor anyone else's. They haven't been updated for ages have they?
Get rid of the badges and the Best Answers......all redundant in my opinion.
badges!!
we don't need no stinkin' badges
Leave the Badgers alone ;-)
Keep the BA but add the 3 2 1 star thing.
It shows your answer is appreciated (or not)
Sqad for best answer!
Service badges are simply that - time based.

You had a break in service that's all.

I agree they serve little or no purpose.
there's a framed screenshot of my badges on my office wall ...
Me too, and BAs. I have 250 of those and it means absolutely nothing.
I like BA awards. When I get one it makes me smile.
I like to go back and read my best answers to remind me of how funny I am.

And vain

And insecure :o/
Lol :-)
Best answers are good in serious categories like B&S.
I like BA's its so seldom I get one, I usually notice about three months after awarded. As for badges I've only just looked as it the topic.
