Welome ro AnswerBank. This is a UK site , so doubtful many people on here will know about living standards in so many US cities to make comparisons.
My choice would be, in descending order, Portland, Boston, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, Raleigh.

(I haven't been to the others except Los Angeles, San Diego or San Jose...and I wouldn't rate any of those.)
I would rank them
warmest first
coldest last
Visited most of them years ago but it is an individual choice, what suits one may not suit another!
this question is enough to make my brain burst !!
I liked San Francisco very much. I also like New York, but I'm not sure I'd want to live there.
This is mainly UK-based community, so the answers may be different from US-based communities, but here is my list, for what it's worth - top is most desirable. Bottom is least desirable

Portland
Seattle
Denver
Boulder
Boston
San Diego
Oakland
Phoenix
Philadelphia
Raleigh
San Jose
Chicago (which part?)
San Francisco (Which district?)
Atlanta
Washington DC
Los Angeles ( Gah! so many districts)
New York (Which borough?)

Although I live in London, I tend to dislike the larger US cities such as LA and Atlanta and especially NYC. I find them soulless.
Tend to prefer coastal cities to inland cities, and West coast over East coast.
Although my parents lived in Washington DC for some years, I did not like it as a place to live, though the suburbs in Va and Md are attractive. The same applies to LA and NYC - hence the questions about which districts.

Why do you ask?
I would not willingly live in any of them.
Apart from as told this is a UK site, where we liked on holiday isn't really a good indicator of where we'd like to live.
Me neither, KARL. Too many guns.
I wouldn't live in any of them - they are cities!
like they care !!
they'll probably never be back !
Any place with very strict gun laws........sadly , whilst I have been to many of these places and enjoyed the really pleasant people I met I am really not sure that I want to live anywhere that allows any one to have a gun..or several guns. Most disturbed by suggestions that teachers should be armed....maybe because I was a teacher for many years.

I would never willingly live in the USA. I have heard far too many horror stories of people being bankrupted by medical bills despite having insurance. Did you know medical bills are by far the biggest cause of personal bankruptcy in the USA?
Boston would be my first choice. Followed by San Diego (because of the weather), LA (for the same reason) Denver is horrible. Phoenix is OK but too hot. There is nothing in San Jose (cousin used to live there) Frisco is full of drop outs. I really like Seattle (shame about the weather though)
Has anyone here been to Baltimore? I love Anne Tyler's books, which are set there and would love to go and see the place. I don't know if it would be as nice as I imagine.
I've been there. It isnt that nice
