Where can I buy a couple of the enormous square nylon containers which builders use for delivering large quanties of sand, etc. I've been offered some free manure but have to collect it and these containers would be ideal for the purpose. Thanks

Apparently you can buy them for 5 each!

Hi wendyS - you are thinking of the 1 ton FIBC bulk bags - but can you move them when they're full?

Your local builders merchant would be the first place to try to get the bulk bag as they will use them for deliveries and may be able to flog you just a couple. Or a gravel merchant might have them too. You will have problems moving them when full of course - have a think about using a number of smaller bags to make it easier.

Most of the makers will have minimum orders to be honest - one here: http://www.builders-bags.com min. order though is 100. . . better get selling manure now . !
A friend at work is having some building done and has some of these bags left over. The suppliers won't take them back because they say they can only use them once and then they're no longer guaranteed safe, so he can either keep 'em or throw 'em away.

They are bl***y heavy when full, though.

You might better getting hold of a very large, plastic tarpaulin and lining the vehicle with it, and then just shovelling the stuff in. The vehicle's going to stink either way.
I have one just the job for takeing stuff to the tip. I was lucky I found it in my garden one day
We have 3.

1st one was delivered full of the gravel we had ordered, and like already mentioned the builders merchants didn't want it back. The other 2 we got from the local tip, they had loads (new ones) which they used for shifting stuff. Chatted to one of the guys there and he said we could have a couple!!

Excellent for getting rid of garden waste etc.

Can send one to you if you want? Seriously!!!
How you going to lift a ton of manure? (just curious)
When we have used ours, although they are large, it didn't mean that we always filled it up. It was just a convenient way of moving garden waste etc as the bags were strong.

I'm sure Wendy would not consider filling it to the brim, but being tough material, at least there is no fear of them tearing and the manure spilling out!!
