Someone please explain, leaving aside the sharing of data side of this for a minute, why does a dating app ask the client to register it's HIV status and even if they did who would be mad enough to do it?

absolutely, when there is something funny to laugh at...

ps unintended typo, but seems to fit so...
Well, it amused me.
Have a gay day, and I hope something tickles your sense of humour soon.
You do know that there is a similar app for heterosexuals couples to met up, too, bigbad?

Do you share the same sentiments about that?
And would you use the same language to describe these 'hook-ups'?
Yes, JTH. I think the same about straight people meeting up just for sex, and yes, I would use the same language.
//You may approve of that sort of thing, but I’m equally as entitled to disapprove.//

I didn't say you weren't entitled to. Nobody did. I just think it's a silly opinion.

Why does everyone immediately leap to the hysterical conclusion that they're being somehow censored or infringed upon if someone makes even the most tepid criticism?
Hysterical. Rather an exaggeration. I’m sitting here quietly typing. Not leaping up and down and waving my arms about!
We are poles apart on this one, but it doesn’t make one of us right and one of us wrong. We just have differing opinions. You find my opinion silly, I find yours distasteful.
You seem to think that because I find the idea of 2 people meeting up just for a bonk, squalid and immoral, that I am criticising you personally. Hence your use of words like “high horse” and “hysterical.”

If you think my comment was anti-gay, you are wrong, but the thread is about a gay dating app.
So how about I even things up for you;

Tiffany looked around the concrete block situated in the corner of the park, which masqueraded as a public toilet. She hoped what was smeared on the walls wasn’t what she thought it was.
Tyson looked at Tiffany. She was definitely trying to cover up her advancing years with all the slap she was wearing.
“So” he said. “Doggie or missionary?”

And that’s how see it, Krom. Dirty and sordid.
They don't all have sex. They meet up. It's about casual relationships as well, not bonking in pub toilets.
Yeah, some people do it in classy hotels!
"Harry looked around Carluccio's - nice place and an interesting menu - Charles came over and introduced himself - perhaps a little older and greyer than Harry expected from the App, but in a distinguished sort of way.

Pasta, wine and coffee and some amusing chat - then some consensual fun at the Hyatt next door - and no irritating strings tomorrow - Harry and Charles are happy"

Better?
//You seem to think that because I find the idea of 2 people meeting up just for a bonk, squalid and immoral, that I am criticising you personally.//

I honestly don't...

//If you think my comment was anti-gay, you are wrong//

Never said it was...

//And that’s how see it, Krom. Dirty and sordid.//

OK. It's just you come across a little bit like the old lady who calls the police about her next door neighbor flashing her. When they came around, she said "Oh, you have to stand on that desk to see it!"
Maybe that does happen Sunny Dave, but that is slightly better than click, meet, bonk.

Maybe that is how you (choose to) see me, Krom.
Although I will never get my head around doing something so intimate with a complete stranger, I’m not quite as bad as the old lady (I’m not that old), in your scenario.
If I got flashed at, I would do my utmost to humiliate the flasher, by laughing, pointing and asking for a magnifying glass!
