Ok - well believe it or not - I don’t eat eggs or chicken - I’m not a veggie I just don’t like them but I have seen an egg substitute in the health food shop
Would they be the same?
I’m currently in Sainsbury’s cafe just ordered porridge n fruit compote
So far today I’ve had 1 cup green earl grey
6 prunes n 1 cup decaf earl grey
Then down to the leisure centre?
If you aim to lose weight by cutting out sugar (which also means going low carb as carbs are also sugar) then I imagine you will lose weight and lower your BP and cholesterol all at the same time.
If it was me, I'd visit my gp, if you haven't already, and address the high bp, cholesterol and sugar, probably by your gp prescribing meds to bring them all down to acceptable levels, then tackle the weight loss.
The first three can be brought under control fairly easily, the weight loss is a longer term thing and will impact the bp, cholesterol and sugar. But you need to speak to your gp first and foremost.
Also I recently gave up sugar/carbs for 3 months and had dramatically better blood results and lost some weight. Look up what foods are high carb. Oats are high. Dates are high. Fruit compote is basically sugar. Eggs and chicken are high in protein and good for you. The Holland and Barrett substitute will probably contain additives, sugar and rubbish.
If you can eat organic/grass fed meat, lots of vegetables (but avoid potatoes if poss) and avoid anything sweet, other than berries, the weight will fall off you and you will feel a ton better.
If you start with diet...as described by Scarlett...you will very likely see results for both BP and cholesterol along with weight loss as you cut out bad carbs/ sugar. I wouldn't touch an egg substitute with a barge pole. Maybe try a frittata or omelette packed with veg, cheese or meat...thats what I do, as I prefer my eggs disguised.

Two more things - aren’t egg yolks to be avoided and can anyone recommend a low carb bread recipe for my bread maker
I’m currently using 50/50 white/wholemeal flour
How often do you eat bread from your bread maker? The problem with that is the bread usually tastes delicious and we then eat more than we should. Bread is very fattening - or it is for me. Could you join Slimming World? They are so helpful and constructive and really do work.
Egg yolks are good cholesterol...and contain most of the eggs nutrition in the form of vitamins, minerals and more.

Re exercise - walking is a simple easy way to get into it. Whatever form of exercise you do, make sure to 'warm up' for at least ten minutes. I had to go through rehab from a heart attack and that was their advice. If you welly straight into running or jogging you could do yourself some damage. Go for a walk, just a stroll for ten mins, then you can walk more briskly. If you get out of breath slow down a bit. Start off with 10 mins 4 - 5 times in one week and increase by 5 -10 mins each week. The guide line is - if you can walk and hold a conversation you're doing fine. If you can walk but can't sing (who would lol) you're working a little harder, you can play around with that. If your muscles feel tired that's a good level to go for. As long as you don't get out of breath you're working at a good level to increase stamina, improve heart health and hopefully lose some weight. Good luck!
This is a good site for learning about low carb.
The bread recipes may not be what you are used to...but certainly worth trying.

Thanks for your answers
I have an appointment with doctor in a couple of weeks so I hope to have dropped some weight so he may think twice about tablets - I pride myself on not talking any tablets except vitamins and would love to get back to that.
I am always so grateful for all your help with this and so many other subjects
Look up Jason Fung on YouTube. He will explain everything. Gone are the days of fat being bad and wholemeal bread being good. We've been told a lot of rubbish and that's why we are all in such bad shape.

Ok - well since last week I’ve been on one tablet for my bp. I went today to have it checked and more blood taken - it’s 137/85 which is still a little high and I am now diabetic- I’ve got an appointment with the doctor in three weeks and an appointment with the diabetes nurse straight after to check my feet and eyes
So that gives me three weeks to lose more weight hopefully I can then come off tablets and not go on any others. I hope I’m being realistic and not kidding myself
My main problem - if I’m honest - is I’m caring for my mum with Alzhmiers

A further update - my BP is 140/90 and I am on one tablet a day, my choles. is 5.9 and the blood sugar is 51 down from 55. I have also lost a few more kgs. I have arranged with my doctor to wait another month and hopefully lose another 5 kgs in that time - then check if I need anymore medication - so its all looking positive - don't you think
