Considering the large amount of deaths and hounds being abandoned due to greyhound racing, is it time to ban this cruel sport?

Spain has a far worse track record with greyhounds. If the animals "dishonour" their owners they regularly get hanged from a tree.

Spain needs to do something about this sickening practice.

I've been called many things in my lifetime, but never "upper crust of society".

Me too, one is very shocked to hear this news, innit.

Cloverjoe "The sport is not known for deaths and injuries in racing" You are living in cuckoo land, of course it is known for dog deaths! http://houndsfirst.co.uk/greyhound-racing-the-facts/

I think Cloverjo was saying not as a result of actually taking part in a race ... and she's right.

Spath "Too many breeders about and too many are uneducated and not professionals" You need to get it right!
Professional dog breeders are called "Puppy Farmers" and frowned on as well al know.
To be registered as an assured breeder with the Kennel Club, dog breeding must not be your main source of income!
I do however agree that there are too many dogs in the rescue centres, most of these dogs are from indiscriminate breeders and people breeding dogs with no idea if they can even sell them.

Most pure breed dogs are not often seen in rescue centres, but some are, especially the bill breeds. I can only speak about my breed of choice and the breeders involved as I know quite a few, most of these puppies are sold before they are ready to leave the mother and most are sold within the Wolfhound community.
Yes, I would like it banned as I would all so called sports using animals, there is always a lot of brutality involved as is often reported by animal charities who go undercover and I agree 100% with spath at 10:38, I have always maintained this.
