I’ve just been reading a bizarre article, whilst looking up about people parking their cars over your driveway and blocking your own car in..... it states that anyone can drive and park their car in your driveway and there is absolutely nothing the police or anyone else will do because it’s on private property. So Joe Bloggs can park his car on my drive and take the train to work, and there is nothing I can do. I’ve googled this for ages and it appears to be true?? Surely not!?

You can always run a bunch of keys down both sides of Joe Bloggs' car. No proof that you've done it and it would probably deter him from parking there again.

Yes, it is true. It is a civil matter, not criminal.
This is why farmers and other land owners get such huge bills for clearing rubbish that has been fly tipped on their land.

May well be true. I'd be tempted to order a same-day skip to be placed directly blocking their car in, or arrange for a neighbour to block them in

This would become a civil matter not subject to criminal law - although the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 created some circumstances in which trespass to land can also be a crime.

It is true. It's a bit extreme but I have known angry householders buy a wheel clamp which they use if anyone parks on their property.It does require a warning notice to be displayed.

There was a programme on telly a while back where this problem arose.The owner of the property had three of those steel pillars that sink into the ground built in the gateway and what he did when a car was parked on his land was to raise the pillars, lock them, and left a message on the car's windscreen that it would cost £10 to lower them.It worked.

I've got parking posts to stop people doing just that, Smowball. I live at the end of a cul de sac with very tight turning so it stops lorries using my drive as a turning bay.

You would be allowed to remove the vehicle if you can do so without damaging it. Bear it mind that the selfish person has not broken the law but you will if you do anything to damage the car or prevent the driver from driving off.
