An activist for Brexit in the original referendum has alleged that Vote Leave illegally overspent by using BeLeave and the infamous donations to Darren Grimes.

Shamir Sanni is expected to present evidence of this to MPs today.

Do people think this will go anywhere or will this just be quietly filed away somewhere until Brexit has passed into history?

"So are you implying the 'remain' campaign also overspent NJ?"

I've no idea. And I don't know whether the Leave camp overspent either. I'm simply pointing out that the (alleged) £9m the government spent on their leaflet should rightly be added to the Remain camp's expenditure.
^Indeed it should.

This post will no doubt be removed but basically what we have here is two queens scratching each others' eyes out. Overspending is not the issue.
Notice that Michael Gove ,and " Boris Worzel Gummidge Johnson "were involved in this slippery action, Typical Con men.
bang on YMB, at least Dave saw fit to commit to the result though: "The government will implement what you decide" .
LOL lol lol @ Gulliver
I read something about vast sums of money in connection with Brexit.

It was on a bus I think.

Such larks.

//Overspending is not the issue. //

Well, they seem to have exceeded the legal limits on campaign spending. So... yes, it is.

Re: Remain, yes, it's an issue if they overspent too (although I have never heard the £9m figure before), but they're not the subject of these allegations in the news and it is also not terribly significant because they lost the result anyway, whereas Leave won. I actually believe that Remain would probably have won if Cameron/Osborne had kept their nose out of the campaign... But alas, they didn't.

Had Remain won dishonestly, I would like to think that I (despite it being 'my side'), along with everyone here currently dismissing this, would be worried about it and at the very least take the issue seriously and seek investigation.
