Hello. My daughter dropped her Phone in a bowl of soapy liquid. From a very low height I don't think It even touched the bottom so wasn't knocked. It was two or three sefinds. We tried it off and left it in a bag of rice for two days. It is charging and will turn on to security pin. All keys are responding apart from the 7 8 and 9. Which are needed for the pin so we can't actually turn it on. Does this sound repairable? And if so any idea of cost? Many thanks for any suggestions

You put your phone in rice?

Well there’s your problem!

Why?

Rice isn’t porous and covering a Phone with a hard non porous material simply slows down the evaporation procedure and gives the water more time to penetrate and damage your phone.

I can’t help you now but in future, dry the phone, take it apart if you can, and dry with a hair dryer then put in a Tupperware with silica gel or a dry sponge and it should be okay.
I and everyone I know have used this method with 98% satisfying results :)
Apple will charge you a staggering £306.44 for the repair.

However, assuming that it's a problem with the touchscreen, a bit of googling suggests that you can get it fixed for between £50 and £80 with independent repairers. It might be worth paying a tenner or so for a fault diagnosis service first though, so that you know that you'll be getting the right part replaced. This firm charges a tenner for the diagnostic service. If it turns out that the touch screen needs replacing it will cost a further £50:

(NB: Never rely upon TrustPilot scores shown on traders' websites; they can be faked. Always go directly to TrustPilot to check. In the case of the firm I've suggested, everything looks kosher to me:

jahulaye they probably looked on the net for a remedy for it and saw this......https://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/gadgets/how-to/a3419/dry-out-your-cell-phone/
so not as silly as it it sounds but using a hairdryer on it is a bad idea !
