Are There Any Credit Card Cancelling Agencies?

We always thought Card Protection Plan did this, and have been paying our annual fee for 15 years or more...

But the other day when we wanted to cancel ONE card out of several, which we thought had been compromised, they wouldn't do it! We had to do it ourselves, which in our case meant phoning Marbles, or rather trying to, and hanging on the phone for up to an hour while 'all their agents were busy'.

Not good enough all round.

Apparently, if we'd lied to CPP and said the card had been lost, they WOULD have handled it for us.

Anyway, is there anywhere who (for a fee) takes note of all your card numbers etc., and will cancel ONE of them if requested? If not, it'll be staying with CPP and making sure we lie in future.

Did you get any money from the CPP mis-selling scandal?

No, that was PPI, and we weren’t caught in that.
Hopkirk's link is CPP bainbrig.
Why use a middleman to just stop one card? Just contact the company directly. If they don't have 24 hour openig then don't use them. And if you can't contact them by phone I think it's likely CPP can't contact them out of hours either.
If there is no phone contact abvaialble can you cancel your card online- just leave a direct message saying cancel it immediately, or use any options to cancel/ntify online

We tried with Marbles - owned by NewDay, who own a few credit cards - and it took us an hour. Their lost card number had a message saying “call back in the morning”.

So nothing is as easy as it should be.
