We used to be able to take our first cat for a walk and he loved being in the car - sat on the front seat of my mini with his front paws on the glove compartment.

2 rescue mongrels called Dusty and Nell. A cat called Hamish and my daughter had a gerbil called Melvin.

They're a joy....quiet at the moment as completely knackered flying and playing about, and resting with their heads tucked in their wings, and I have built them a homemade gym they adore with ladders, coconut shells, perches, dangly ropes and bells and assorted toys....starting to respond to our calls and gestures....had a few Budgies before.... the longest one, Princess, living to the ripe old age of 14, before developing a lump near her neck....took her to the vets, who said almost certainly a cancerous tumour and if they operated would probably die under anaesthetic or shock. She lived for a further few months, hopefully without pain, as we had her medication and she died whilst we were away on holidays abroad, being looked after by friends.

So gutting...losing a pet.

I currently have Sally, a very lady-like lurcher, and Casper, a bonkers deaf cat. Until a few months ago, I also had Amber, a fat tortie, and Caspar's predecessor was Cleo, a long haired tortie.
There have been numerous cats and a few dogs in the past.

Louis I lost last year, age 17, B/W cat, and my Siamese were Pi Den Neryssa (Mia) Sou Lee, and Rewandi Kreeta (Chah Lee.

My cats were torties called Muffin and Shelley and a ginger and white called Keats. He was deaf and originally called Beethoven. I didn't fancy standing at the back door shouting to a deaf cat "come on Beethoven" so I changed it. He didn't know anyway. All long gone now. I would love another one but OH isn't keen.

There are a couple of Burmese kitties in our house, who deign to eat our food and accept our petting.

We inherited them from a music teacher, whose father breeds show cats. She got the reject showcats, so Arwen is cross-eyed and Aragorn has a bad leg...

When her children came along, the kitties needed a less dangerous home... Toddlers love cats, just a little too much...
