I like having one of these cut into pieces for my breakfast. I have noticed lately that their centres have been really hard - not a normal core. I wondered if anyone else had experienced this and knows why it is happening.

I dont know your answer as we have always eaten and enjoyed ours when they were hard, straight off the tree.

Unfortunately I'm not able to do that any more, so have to get them from shops. The centres sre like hard pieces of stone. It's very strange.
We found we had to leave them in the fruit bowl a couple of weeks before Mr F declared em fit to eat.
I assume they are picked early to ripen in store or at home ?
