Transferring Contacts To New Mobile

I have a SIM-only contract with BT. They're sending me a new SIM because the previous Samsung SIM was a Standard one and the replacement for my Samsung upgrade will be a Micro one.

I'm guessing the new SIM will be one of those that will enable you to push out the appropriate size. If so, do I simply transfer my contacts from the existing SIM to phone, insert the replacement SIM having chosen the standard size, transfer the contacts from phone to SIM and then insert that SIM (having pushed out the Micro one) in the new phone?

If that's not feasible, I'll continue with my efforts to back up my contacts to Gmail (having failed miserably so far). Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Should be feasible. Look at your handset setting to see how you copy any phone contacts stored on the SIM to the handset, and vice versa.
