Naomi - // I wouldn’t pay to watch a hologram tour, but tribute bands performing Queen or Beatles music can hardly be charged with taking audience money from original musicians. //

That was my point - I am interested to know why you disagree with it - ?
Went to the Elvis hologram tour in Glasgow a few years ago. Absolutely fabulous night out - SECC was packed and the atmosphere was electric. Going to see the Roy Orbison hologram tour in Edinburgh in April and if it's half as good as the Elvis one it will be worth every penny.
andy-hughes, not with you. I didn't say I disagreed with it.

Hi, Baz.....no, I don't go to London as often these days.....but I did see them in Buxton a couple of weeks ago.......they do a photo of every audience......I am in the Buxton photo!..... ;-)
naomi in case you come back on here, I've ordered tickets for Let It Be at the Liverpool Empire, really looking forward to it ..
Naomi - If I understand you correctly, you believe that 'tribute' musicians playing established bands' songs do not take potential money away from new musicians playing original material.

I believe that they do - but an interested if you have an argument against my view - ?
I love going to concerts but I don't think watching a hologram is for me! If I had to choose between going to a hologram gig and watching a tribute act, I'd probably choose the latter. But ultimately if someone is singing someone else's song I'd rather they just be themselves, look like themselves, and put their own spin on the song a little bit. I imagine it's a great feeling to be watching a band that shares the same passion for the original artist. (This is all assuming the original singer/band is deceased.)
I loved the music of The Eagles, Ed........and I really, really adore the guys who make up The Illegal Eagles....so for me seeing them live is win win...... :-)
I saw an Eagles tribute band at Butlins last year. They were note & vocal perfect. It was more about having a good sing along than anything else.
Sing-along, Zacs?.....You got up and danced I hope..... ;-)
hereIam, Oh great!! I do hope you enjoy it! I went with three of my scattier girlfriends and we had a wonderful night! Don’t forget to let me know how it goes.

andy-hughes, //you believe that 'tribute' musicians playing established bands' songs do not take potential money away from new musicians playing original material.//

I don’t think I implied that, at least that wasn’t my intention, but now you mention it, no I don’t believe that tribute bands playing established bands' songs take money from new musicians playing original material. People pay to hear music they want to hear, not music they don't want to hear.
Oh yeah G.
