Garaman - // But if they didn’t renew his contract because of something he did, then he would be considered sacked. //

An excellent point.

If you notice - and I am sure you have - Mr Cole has not said that he has been sacked, he has said that his contract has not been renewed.

The media, on the other hand, has thrown up its collective hands in horror and shrieked 'Sacked!!!!!!from its headlines, because that is what sells papers.

I left my employment last May. I didn't get so much as a 'good luck and thanks' from my employers after forty-three years' service.

Was I seriously put out? Yes.

Was I 'sacked'? No!!!!
I am sorry to hear about your own experience, Andy, but it does seem quite different, and not really relevant to the thread. 'Sacked' is not being used in its literal sense, but to convey where the blame lies. The media, and I tend to agree with them, think that it was his attitude that got him 'sacked'.
I think it was because of his attitude that they chose not to renew his contract.
Sacked or contract not renewed, I don't care, I'll miss him. Should get rid of Ballas instead, can't stand HER !

Imagine the reaction at the BBC - we have decided not to renew the contract of an employee, and now a journalist from ITV has decided that we need to change our minds.

Do we need a minute to think about that?

Probably not!
Our local Domino's is looking for delivery folk who are quick on their feet.
LOL!
I think we the viewers should have been able to have our say with a public vote.
Well it’s a start .another 6 good not renewings would be great .
Brendan - I can take him or leave him. Anton I find mildly irritating. AJ looks like he should be studying for his GCSEs.

Alijaz ... now he's talented, gorgeous and oozing charisma. Hubba hubba ... !!!
Fairlight - // I think we the viewers should have been able to have our say with a public vote. //

I think that takes the notion of 'public participation' rather too far.

Having a vote on who dances well is one thing - all you need is to offer your opinion based on what you think.

Having a vote on who has a contract or not, in other words, is able to work and earn money, should be based on a lot more than a casual opinion, and no background information, or the credentials to decide.
