My mother currently receives attendance allowance in her pension. If my sister in law becomes her carer and applies for carers allowance will it affect my mothers award?

My understanding is that you cannot receive carers allowance as well as the state pension. Believe it or not the state pension is classed as a benefit, as is carers allowance and you cannot receive twin benefits.

No - Sorry I don’t think I have made myself clear
My mum is 90 receiving AA and her pension. My SIL is 55 and I’m hoping she can receive the CA without it affecting the AA my mum gets
no, it wont affect it

Thank you malana and bedknobs
I’ve given you BA bedknobs because you gave me the answer I wanted
you can only get carers allowance if the person you are caring for is already receiving attendance allowance
it will affect any benefits your sister gets though, or if she is working as well, she might not get any CA
