I was at a gig on Friday.....audio description would have been unnecessary and useless....so it's pointless using that as a comparison...
The band spent time before many numbers bantering with the audience about the original band....who wrote the songs and why.....they joked with each other and with the audience about other members......the one with man flu and the reason for the hat got much amusing stick from both.....
There were so many interesting introductions to numbers.
A deaf person needed an interpreter to be able to enjoy this and to join in......anything less would have meant isolation and being left out of much of the enjoyment of the whole event.
Even having the next number introduced in BSL is important....so I'll stick to my guns on this one....because I have seen the difference it makes and that makes me kind of happy..... :-)

You're right. A gig you were at on Friday is a pointless comparison to a Little Mix concert, which is an audio-visual experience. If one of the band members is flying through the air, for example ... or a guest artist walks on without introduction, and the audience starts clapping ... then audio description would be useful.

Audio description would be useless, Ellipsis....I would choose the other way if I was blind....rather than being confined and still in a place where transmission worked.

The other way being what? Put up with the fact that I was blind?
That's fine, but a bit different to "there is nothing a venue can do to help a blind person see", which is what I responded to.

After all I've said on here you think I'd accept anyone with a disability "putting up with" something when it could easily be improved, Ellipsis? Really?
Had I been blind and attending Friday's gig I would have taken a friend with me....a friend who could tell me the things that were happening that I wanted to know....does Chris's bum look good in the leather trousers......is his hair still as long as ever......what Gerry looks like as he staggers off the stage......Not sure he'll make the next gig, Gness!
My friend would know that I wanted to know as I danced in the aisle waving my arms along with all the other fans.....
Audio description would need clear transmission with sterile commentary which would have put the dampers on my experience.....and taken me away from the fun of sharing.
Shame?......If you have really read the whole thread you will see how many members don't see the need for an interpreter and how many will go along with one for the main act but not the support......ration the deaf to what you and others like you will allow? That's mean.
I think....can't go back on this gadget.....Talbot was scathing about support acts......I'm now looking at booking tickets to see the new to me support from last night's gig in Ireland.....I'm fortunate....I could hear and appreciate them.....because I'm not deaf.
