i am going to see family week after next and have booked a taxi, not cheap, they say they only take the money out of your account when the journey has ended, but they have taken the money already, which they did before,
should i phone and complain. I can't find a cheaper taxi company, black cabs are out as they charge much more than this one.

yes there is a facility where companies can "tag" money in an account or against a credit card.

maybe that's best, i do find it irritating especially as its a lot of money.

I suppose the only time a problem will arise is if you are unable to make the journey so you will have the bother of seeking a refund.

i will ring them and ask what the policy is, they are a good well known company and haven't charged me twice in the past.

its 150 quid one way, so as i said its a lot of money, i am not going until the 3rd Feb, so they shouldn't take it out till i have got to my destination, their policy or so i was told.
That's naughty, I would phone them. Are you like me, scared of trains? I'm ok with coaches though ;)

That IS a lot of money. Is train/long-distance bus not an option for you?
Yes I'd complain. You may have needed to cancel your travel arrangements a day or so before.

If you'd been a first-time customer I could understand that they may not be so trusting but you say they've done this before.
Question Author
i rang them and they said that the amount is held in a holding account and that it hasn't come out until the journey is done, in case there is any increase in waiting time.. hope that makes sense.

can't walk far so trains/bus out of the question.
yes its a lot of money, and yes i have used them before, same price by the way to the same destination.
black cab was 200 quid, which i said no to.
I would check with your bank to see if the money has been taken from your account.

Question Author
i will go with the flow, after all i am going to see family, so that's no bad thing.. i wish i could use the train, whole lot cheaper but can't manage it these days.
I would definitely complain about that. What happens if you don't make the journey? Can you rely on them to pay the money back into your account?
Emmie are you aware that you can get assistance at railway stations? Someone will take your bags and help you to the train and see you safely on board and there will be someone at the other end of your journey to help again.

My parents in law found this to be an invaluable service.

Sounds like a plan. Taxi to the station, assistance getting on and off the train, taxi at other end.
that would be fine of train journeys weren't to blooming expensive!
