If the police stopped you and did a search and found weed in your possession, how much weed would you need for them to arrest you on suspicion of supplying rather than merely possession for your own purpose?
Thanks.

Its a bit like asking how long is a piece of string!
1oz would get you booked by some but let off by others.

Are there no guidelines for police then?
As Islay says, there isn't a set figure and other factors will apply. Oldish link but gives a fair report.

Cannabis is still illegal and if you are caught with even so much as a single joint, the police still have the authority to either fine or prosecute you.

Mamy, good link thanks.
Alavahalf, the police also have the power to issue a caution?
Its like when we used to stop people at ports - we could basically decide that what they had warranted supply and not personal.
There are rough guidelines out there but they are there to help not hinder the police.
Nailit .. why issue a caution. If you have 2 joints in your possesion then you are fair game as far as I am concerned. One for your own use and one to sell.

In my last job I had reason to be present in a local park around mid morning.. just as the kids were let out for morning break from the secondary school that bordered the park. As soon as the kids arrived (11 to 16 year olds).,. so did the drug dealers. The dealers arrived on bikes and pedalled like demons as they did deal after deal. Each deal involved them cycling out of the park to collect a small amount of cannabis, before returning and handing over 10 or 20p change from the £10 deal. Seemingly the more change they give .. the more deals they will do.
Do you think this is acceptable and the dealers should only receive a caution if caught supplying, as they are only carrying a small amount ?

Nowhere have I suggested that it is acceptable to receive only a caution. Just want to clarify the law surrounding this subject.
Why would you get change of 10 or 20p from a £10.00 deal? That makes no sense
10p or 20p may make a difference .. it might buy you some sweets.
Nah.
If someone is seen selling £10's worth of drugs then the amount seems irrelevant.

Thread is not about 'seen' someone selling drugs. Its about been in 'possession' of drugs!
alavahalf's post described some activity seen.
It's a question of fact and degree since even with a large amount you could say you bulk buy. Absent any evidence which supports dealing (baggies, scales, large wads of cash, spare mobiles etc) I imagine it could be quite a bit.
The position is very vague , but issue of a 'cannabis warning' is recorded against you.
If you are stopped a second time and found to be possession , you will not get a second warning it will be prosecution and a fine. A third stop can be a prison sentence.
Meanwhile, on the other side of Gotham City, raping and pillaging goes on apace while police are tied up with something that should be decriminalised anyway.

I don't know the answer.
