The trans trap: Women who identify as men are NOT offered routine NHS breast cancer screening... but men who identify as women WILL get cervical smear tests – even though they don’t have a cervix.

Conservative MP David Davies, who has campaigned against Government plans to let people legally ‘self-identify’ their own gender, said: ‘This NHS effort to be politically correct is putting the lives of women who claim to be men at risk.’

What an utterly ridiculous situation – and all in an effort to avoid causing offence. Barmy!

SP, yes, I did write that. My mistake and clearly incorrect. Had I copied from the Mail verbatim it would have read: //an official guidebook states that men living as women are being invited for cervical smear tests …//

… which is, of course, accurate. My apologies for confusing you.

I wonder how NHS staff will deal these ‘real women’ if invitations are accepted?
be polite and tell them to go home.
by the way getting a cervical smear test ain't no simple matter if you are over a certain age.

I don’t need worry too much about that hypothetical situation until it arises.

No doubt there will be one trans woman who demand a smear test because her GP has forgotten to update her records, but until that happens, anything we could say about it is the purest of pure conjecture.

At least now we are all on the same page. The Daily Mail misled its readers saying that men who identify as women WILL get smear tests. Now we know that’s not true, so...job done.
So after all this moaning, the story is a complete non-story. Trans people will only be incorrectly offered smear tests if they are mistakenly registered as having a cervix.

All that fuss was over nothing, then.
makes good reading....

sp, //I don’t need worry too much about that hypothetical situation until it arises. //

I didn't realise you were worrying. Sorry to hear that.
Should've been:

I don’t think we need worry too much about that hypothetical situation until it arises.

Remember - it was you who posted the question, based on a mistake made by the Daily Mail.

When you copied and pasted, it would've served you well to dig into the actual source of the story.

sp, I did look at the story. I looked at the actual leaflet that's been published. The NHS is inviting trans people who identify as female for smear tests, but they're not inviting those who identify as male for breast cancer screenings. That's it.
What would happen if a black woman born in a white man's body identified as caucasian twins? Could she sue the NHS for gender misplacement if she doesn't receive two invites to have their breasts screened? Is it me, or is the planet going quickly bonkers?
Considering your question Hazi - I think I know the answer.
I meant the bit that says 'Is it me'
^Haha thanks Mamy^ Good to hear the world is actually entirely normal after all, phew!
Is it though?

Completely? You sure.
