I agreed to download suggested upgrades for iTunes on my Windows 7 laptop this weekend.
All seemed to go well until after the reboot. Tried to startup iTunes but could only get a message that the application was unable to start correctly - Code- 0xc000007b.
I tried various suggestions from Apple's help page but nothing helped so I eventually deleted iTunes and dowloaded a new version which appeared to work for a few minutes. Then Itunes crashed and once again I am getting the same messages.
Does any member have experience of this this and can offer a solution?

Thanks.

Have you tried disabling any security software and seeing if that resolves it?

Hooray! Eventually solved my problem with iTunes not opening.
Following member's advise I tried updating .Net Framework but couldn't get it to complete the update. Similar with Active X.
So I looked into what Windows updates were available and found that although I appeared to have had regular updates there were many missing. 185 it seems!!
I can't tell you how many hours that took to download and then further hours configuring the Windows updates. However it was worth it as everything now works and I've got my music back.
Thanks for all your suggestions.

Sorry I should hav esaid DirectX.
Always do your upgrades ask100..... they come back to bite you in the end. You will find that as you run windows upgrades apple themselves come on and offer itunes upgrades simultaneously. It has always happened that way in my experience. Glad you are back up and running.
