I am doing a Burns night dinner (at the dining table with linen napkins!)
But one of the guests is Vegan.
Any recipe ideas that would fit in with the theme for the evening.
Thank you for your help.

The pale and wan are welcome here
Tae sit around ma table
And they can chow their tofu logs
An' chide us wi' their babel.
I want to know why vegans shouldn't be 'pandered to'.

Lol thanks Douglas (I think)
I don't consider it pandering at HC - If I go round to a friends house for dinner they often ask if there is anything I can't eat - normally I come out with bread, potatoes, sausages and bacon etc. So why should I expect any different from my guest
Because they are inconvenient...
My question was aimed at diddlydo, really, Islay. I try to cater for my guests' needs, too. It needn't be difficult - they certainly cater to mine. :)

That's what I think to HC but I don't think you will get a response from diddlydo as they just seem to like to come in and stir and not actually answer anything!
Islay - if someone asks me if there's anything I don't eat, I am polite and say "No I eat everything" because I don't want to place any restrictions on them. Just good manners surely?
If the hostess has been thoughtful enough to ask "anything you do not eat? the appropriate response is to tell them. Some people cannot eat certain things for health reasons; others for religious reasons; and others for dietary reasons. Islay is being the perfect hostess in catering for her guests and ensuring that they feel comfortable in whatever is presented.
Sounds like a potentially deadly response.

Although I suppose allergies are jus fads.

"jus fads", oh Eccles, quite quite brilliant.......

I have a jus allergy too!!
Lol best typo in ages
Diddlydo sorry but you are so wide of the mark on this one you are off the scale!!
Well, we are in food and drink!

I would love to give you BA but it would be unfair to take it away from Eleena who researched it for me, so you will have to make do with 2nd best x
one of these, bought in and you could always fiddle with it, like some extra finely diced garlic, chilli or chipotle..... http://www.macsween.co.uk/products/delicious-every-day-vegetarian/
Sorry but zealous vegans are a pain in the butt. I eat vegan soup for lunch nearly every day in winter (because the soups are made from my home-grown veg with no evil stock cubes added) but I don't go around proclaiming "Hey I'm a vegan".
Maybe not, diddlydo, but you've told everyone you grow your own veg and make soup.
It would be a bit silly saying "Hey I'm a vegan" just because you eat soup.
Unless, of course, she's visiting from Vega.
