For the past few days we have noticed that when we get up in the morning our television has turned itself on again. Is this a serious complaint - please say no !

tvs can be set to come on automatically, have you accidentally set it to do so?
You should turn it off fully (at the wall socket) at the end of the day - leaving it on standby wastes a lot of electricity
I would unplug it at the mains when I went to bed and only plug it in again when I got up. I would be worried about it overheating .
Then again my next door neighbor leaves the TV on all night to keep her dog company , the dog sleeps in the living room, and no problems yet.

Thank you - very sensible answers
Some smart tvs do upgrades overnight, especially if connected to the net, and switch on to reboot. Usually the background or ambient light comes on. Remember that if you switch off at the mains the upgrades do not happen.
Sensible answers ? ... "Leaving you tv on standby wastes a lot of electricity" ...
There are 8760 hours in a year, so your tv will use 8.76kWh in a year while on standby.
Currently 1kWh from one of the big 6-energy company costs 14 pence, so over a year that will cost you £1.23
If someone said ..' you can save yourself £1.23 a year, all you have to do is climb over your tv twice a day to plug it in and then unplug it again. You only have to do it 730 times a year' .. would you honestly accept this as good advice.

It's just a thought ... do you un-plug your fridge and freezer at night just in case they overheat ..
You could save more electricity by putting a tiny bit less water in the kettle each time you use it.
lol, lol, lol.

Ha, ha, ha.

Unplug at mains.

My sides are plotting at the very thought of such nonsense.
Splitting, but perhaps plotting works too.....
aelmpvw is the best answer so far. We managed to do just that many years ago on a previous tv. Never worked our how and had to get the 'book of words' out to find out how to get it off.
Either it's your early morning alarm call: or... you have a poltergeist !
