Sorry to come back to this one again but I'm still having trouble reconciling the answer to No. 44 to the dingbat. Mike always says 'say what you see'. The trouble is, although I think the answer is probably 'shepherds in the fields abiding' the dingbat is showing shepherds ON or OVER the fields. I can see the word abide is in between the fields = in the fields abide in(g) but I can't see shepherds IN. Or am I trying to be too, precise?

Are the fields and 'abide' under the shepherds? If so then it will be Shepherds (then as if separately) in the fields abiding. Can't think of an easier way to say it.
Don't actually know what the dingbat looks like but does seem as you might be over- thinking it. I know in the past that there have been perplexing dingbats with this quiz even when the answers are revealed.
I do take your point, but I can't find a version with just 'Abide' which would work nicely.

His marking is strict but can't see anything better.

I just hope Mike shows a little leniency.
Shepherds, in the fields (is the word) abiding.
Depends how you phrase it.

Thanks captain2. You're quite right. It is how the phrase is interpreted. It is all clear now.
