Off to the Lake District for the first time. As we are only there for a long weekend, what are your recommendations for places you just have to visit. Can't consider any serious hill-walking thanks to a dodgy knee!!

The scenery is beautiful in the Lakes. You can go to Beatrix Potters house if you are interested in that kind of thing. Cartmel is a lovely village to visit, lots of village pubs for meals. The list is endless. Have a good time.
We visit the Lakes alot and love the trip on the condola from Coniston across to Brantwood, this was the home of John Ruskin. The house is worth going into but if you don't have time just walk round the gardens which are not formal, as in box hedging and flower beds but lovely wooded areas with lots of unusual ferns, herb garden etc. Of course wonderful views of the lake. Look at www.brantwood.org.uk/ Enjoy yourselves!
Sorry, in the first line condola should read gondola.
