I have decided to try to make a dent in the Christmas shopping but none of the kids particularly wants anything, they're too old for toys and most of them are too young to have just a few bits and money in a card. It's so maddening, I don't want to just buy stuff for the sake of it. To make things worse they break up on 15 December so it all has to be delivered and wrapped by then.

The eldest likes to choose his own clothes and the youngest don't get dressed in the winter if they can help it. The four youngest have new hoodies on the way (top of choice with pj bottoms when not at school). They've all got slipper socks for their stockings (this new house has slate flooring so it's a bit nippy). I also have to keep a record of who is having what to make sure they get the same value of presents.

If I was naughty, Sherr....I'd suggest a selection of musical instruments...... ;-)

The eldest will get some bits and some money (reckons it'll be his last Christmas at home - he's 17).

Tony - he's just got a new temp (might become permanent) part time job and the money has gone to his head (better pay and more hours than his old job). In his mind, he can rent somewhere (nice), socialise and have a great time before he joins the army (current plan). We're just going to let him do his thing. I can see his point, we live in the sticks where the buses stop at 6.15 in the evening.

Hi Sher, my son is 14 and informed me there is nothing he wants or needs for Christmas (he has thought of a few things now). Have a look at the Virgin experience days website. I'm getting him an off road Land Rover driving course they do quite a few driving experiences for 11 to 17 year olds. Lots of other things too, that might inspire you.
