For some reason my PC has gone into safe mode. I have no idea how to change it. I'm a bit dense when it comes to computers. Any help would be appreciated x

1024 x 768 is quite a low resolution more like that of on old Windows XP display I would check what video card the computer actually has and what driver is installed I suspect you have a mismatch or a faulty video card unfortunately the same make and model of computer can have different video cards and so different drivers so unless you can access the manufactures...

"It's not in safe mode, just looks exactly the same as safe mode"

If only you'd said that from the outset!

I didnt know that until I'll followed your instructions Dave..

I did Update Driver and got a message saying that this driver was the best driver for the PC. There were other other options Like Rollback Driver. There was also a window update which I clicked on hours ago and that's 95% installed. So I guess I'll wait and see what that brings. I'll let you know if anything changes. The screen is just the same :o(

All updated and still the same. Any idea what I try next? Thanks x
Just because Windows indicates that the driver is correct is not necessarily so but that’s another game so assume for now that it is correct and hope it’s just a screen resolution problem
Right click on the desktop and select “Display Settings”
You will see “Scale and layout”
The size of text is probably set to “100 Recommended”
The resolution should be set whatever is the “Recommended” for your system (mine is “1680 X 1050 Recommended”) this is where you can adjust the resolution to get a better display, by adjusting the resolution (in your case) upwards
Start by incrementally selecting a slightly higher resolution until you have a satisfactory display unless you see a “recommended” display available and select it, see how you get on.
Orientation should be set to “Landscape”
Some usual resolutions are
19-inch screen 1280 x 1024 pixels
20-inch screen 1600 x 1200 pixels
22-inch screen (widescreen) 1680 x 1050 pixels
24-inch screen (widescreen) 1900 x 1200 pixels

Thanks Bertrum.. I'll give that a go x

Hi Bertrum. The size of text is set at 100% - Recommended. Resolution was at 1024 x768 - recommended. I've changed that to 1280 x1024 (there is nothing higher than that ) The text is now smaller and looks better but all the picture are still "stretched". Do you think a trip to the PC man might be in order?
There is something you can set that'll force it to go into safe mode every time until you reset/unset it. I'm updating my PC or I'd look, but there must be details on the Net.
What about restoring your computer to an earlier time and date before this problem occurred?
Oh. Not safe mode then.

I might just have to do that danny but I'm not good with all this techie stuff xx
1024 x 768 is quite a low resolution more like that of on old Windows XP display
I would check what video card the computer actually has and what driver is installed I suspect you have a mismatch or a faulty video card unfortunately the same make and model of computer can have different video cards and so different drivers so unless you can access the manufactures site and enter an ID tag or serial number to find what is fitted it becomes a bit of trial and error
One thing to try is to go back into “Device Manager” select the “Display Driver” and select “roll back driver” in the hope that you have had an updated driver that is causing the problem
Question Author
Thanks Bertrum... I'm going to try that roll back option. Thanks again for taking the trouble to help x
Question Author
Thank you danny x going to try the roll back thing first..so fingers crossed.
Question Author
I owe you a pint Bertrum. Next time you're in Fife maybe. The roll back driver worked. Thank you so much for your help xx
Glad you got it sorted Mazie.
You are most welcome if I ever decide to take Mrs B back to Scotland I may take you up on that
It is always something to keep in mind that unfortunately Windows 10 updates also attempts to update drivers if it doesn’t like the one you have installed (not always successfully)
Question Author
At least I know what to do know Bertrum x Thanks again.
