Goldfish Age

We bought 3 goldfish about a year ago from pets world and they were pretty small ( < 1inch )
Now they are frigging enormous - roughly how old would they have been when we bought them

dad did that..thought he had gold fish in the pond ..but they grew and grew and were Koi...but he got them at goldfish price so.....and I think it was Pet world too ?
