have just booked my first package holiday in 20 odd years. It includes hotel transfers but my friend will be meeting us at the airport. Will it be a problem if we don't take the transport?>

It will only be a problem if you don't let the tour company know that you won't be using the transport. Let someone know otherwise they will all be hanging about looking for you.
Just let them know in advance, otherwise they might waste time looking for you !

Bednobs....where are you off to ?

and if you are expecting the tour operator to take you back to the airport – make sure you let them know.

You will be given plenty of opportunity to do this during the time that the rep is trying to sell you their tours.
Hi, as others have said just let them know. There is nothing worse than waiting on the coach for over an hour in the heat for someone who has already gone. Couldn't you have just not booked the transfers as most tour operators give money off these days for not taking them or some add the transfer on as an extra.
You luck *** bednobs. Had booked to go ourselves next week but had to cancel. Have a good time mate.
no, as said, just let them know. But you may be missing an introductory spiel by the rep on the bus, so make sure you know if some kind of welcome meeting is being held at the hotel.
I've never been given and spiel by a rep. Even in the hotel the only thing we asked the rep is where the nearest pharmacist was.

The transport has always been at the airport when we landed so you could let them know then and stay booked for the return which you can cancel at the hotel. You've already paid for it so they won't care.

Have a great time...
the rep ought to be telling you about things like when breakfast is served and what excursions you can go on (and pay for). Depending on how far it is from the airport to the hotel and what time of day it is, they often do it on the coach. (They won't bother if it's late and you're half asleep.) If not, it'll be at a welcome meeting at the hotel. Depends whether you want to know any of this.
Don't just let the company know before you travel, find the rep at the airport and let her/him know, especially about the return, messages don't get passed on.
