Why? It must be one of the least curable and worst prognosis of any cancers. Who wants to worry during what time they have left?
It was yesterday.

Prudie, what don't you understand about the op ?
Question Author
Indeed it was ummm, but whats a day here and there :-)
" please familiarize yourself with the symptoms,"

So Asquith, what are the symptoms of pancreatic cancer?
I thought that you would have cut and pasted them to help us OR God forbid to give us all a link....website...NHS website that you keep going on about.
Question Author
Very smart professional reply sqad, always the gentleman .
Anne I understand everything about the OP. You are telling us to familiarise ourselves with (and hence recognise) the symptoms. What don't you understand about basically 'what's the point'?
Hmm... If I familiarised myself with all the diseases one could get, I'd run out of memory.
The Day itself is not just about familiarising yourself with the symptoms, but raising awareness and of course raising funds.

Early diagnosis is key to most things that ail us, sadly Pancreatic Cancer's early symptoms mirror those of so many lesser problems.

Carry on prudie with your attitude ( makes no difference to me ) .
All these types of days are about raising awareness, not necessarily about probing ones self for lumps/bumps/symptoms. The more people are familiar with things like this, the better.
It's not an attitude, that cancer has appalling survival rates so there is little point in recognising symptoms they can do nothing about. By all means promote the day and associated charities but don't just tell people to look stuff up and then worry themselves to death.
When you urge others to familiarise themselves with the symptoms of pancreatic cancer, do you mean those symptoms which invariably manifest when the cancer has already become locally advanced or, worse still, metastatic?

A Link would be helpful please, if you are capable
Question Author
I give up. I'll leave this thread to " the experts " :-)
I could give a link to World Pancreatic Cancer Day, but am not in the mood for being mocked for doing so.
You meant well Anne, that's the important thing.
This place really is becoming an unpleasant nest of vipers. OK so Anne's post about familiarising oneself with pancreatic cancer symptoms wasnt well done. Nonetheless, she felt it sensible just to gently raise awareness. Perhaps it is something close to her heart?

Anyway, I looked up the symptoms and I dont have any. So one person looked.
Well I also looked but I was already aware of the prognosis. There was nothing viperous meant by me, I genuinely do not see the point of people worrying about something they can do very little to help but obviously some can't see that point of view and prefer to interpret it negatively.
I'm glad you don't have the symptoms, BM, but the point that some of us were making is that symptoms of pancreatic cancer nearly always only present after it's too late. The prognosis for this particular cancer is indeed very poor.

If Anne is trying to raise awareness of this disease that's all well and good but, speaking from experience, Anne does like to disrupt threads on this topic if certain people (namely myself) impart knowledge or advice.
